Marc Mitchell Scholarship
The Global Digital Health Network, created in 2009, is a 4,000+ person-strong networking forum for members from 117 countries to share information, engage with the broader community, and provide leadership in digital health (mHealth, eHealth, data science, ICTs and AI) for global public health.
In 2019, GDHN launched the Marc Mitchell Leadership and Innovation Award to honor Dr. Marc Mitchell (1948–2019), founder of D-tree and pioneer of digital health. Marc dedicated his career to expanding access to quality care through digital tools, mentoring future leaders, and supporting projects in over 40 countries.
This annual award recognizes exceptional early- and mid-career professionals in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) who are using digital health to make quality care more accessible and who demonstrate leadership in scaling innovative approaches.
This year, D-tree is granting the award to one applicant.
Eligibility
- Citizen of an LMIC, residing and working in an LMIC.
- Early- or mid-career, in a management or leadership role.
Prize
- Travel, accommodation, visa, and registration for the Global Digital Health Forum taking place in Bangkok, Thailand, from December 2–4, 2026.
- The Marc Mitchell scholarship winner will also receive a one-year mentorship with a digital health leader.
Evaluation Criteria
- You have demonstrated a commitment to making quality health care accessible to all, especially in LMICs, through the use of digital health.
- You have developed or used digital innovations to improve the quality of health care, focused on the community and primary levels of the health system.
- You have demonstrated leadership in healthcare by working with others to improve or scale innovative digital approaches.
- You show commitment to dedicating time to a year-long mentorship program.
