Our Mission To accelerate effective and equitable digital health by convening the people and institutions who can scale what works. GDHF exists to move the field from promising pilots to proven systems, and to ensure that emerging technologies, AI most of all, improve health outcomes for everyone rather than widening the gap. Our Vision A world where every health system, regardless of resources, can harness digital tools and trustworthy AI to deliver better care. We believe that future is built through shared standards, open collaboration across borders, and honest exchange between the people setting policy and the people doing the work. How GDHF Is Organized GDHF is a partnership. The Global Digital Health Network, founded in 2009 and now more than 4,000 members strong across 117 countries, leads on content, abstract selection, and program governance through its Co-Chairs and Advisory Council. TechChange, a social enterprise that has supported global digital health network-building and capacity-strengthening for over a decade, leads on operations, production, and the in-person and virtual experience. For 2026, GDHF is proud to be co-hosted by Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health, with the support of WHO Thailand. A Brief History GDHF began in 2009 as the mHealth Summit, a single-day gathering in Washington, DC, built around a then-radical idea: that mobile phones and digital tools could transform health in the world’s most underserved communities. From the very start it was global, with funding raised to bring participants from across Asia and Africa to share what was working on the ground. Through the early 2010s the gathering grew quickly, filling convention halls and sharing the main stage with figures such as Bill Gates and Ted Turner. As the field matured, the community sought an identity of its own, and in 2015 the Global Digital Health Forum was born as an independent event, anchored by the Global Digital Health Network. For the next several years GDHF made its home in the Washington, DC area, becoming the field’s essential annual meeting point for implementers, researchers, donors, and governments. When the pandemic arrived in 2020, the Forum went fully virtual for the first time, in partnership with TechChange, welcoming more than 4,000 participants online for hundreds of sessions, complete with a 3D virtual convention experience. As the global health community raced to respond to COVID-19, GDHF became a vital place to share what was working. A second fully virtual edition of similar scale followed in 2021. In 2022 the community came back together in person in Crystal City, in the Washington, DC area, and the energy of being together again was unmistakable. In 2023 GDHF grew into one of its largest editions yet, with more than 700 people on site at the Bethesda North Marriott in Maryland and several thousand more joining online. These hybrid years proved that the Forum could convene its global community no matter where in the world they were. In 2024 GDHF took its boldest step yet, crossing to the African continent for the first time with an edition in Nairobi, Kenya. Made possible by partners including USAID, the Gates Foundation, and the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation, it welcomed close to 1,300 participants to the JW Marriott in Nairobi, with more than half coming from across Africa and a quarter from Kenya itself. A second Nairobi edition in 2025 drew over 900 participants in person and several thousand online, again anchored by majority participation from across the continent. That it thrived in a year of real headwinds for global health was a testament to the strength and resilience of this community. In December 2026, GDHF comes to Asia for the first time. It explores governance models, coordination mechanisms, and practical approaches to moving beyond fragmented pilots toward nationally owned and institutionalized solutions. Abstracts were submitted under one of the following session types: Solution Demonstrations In-person only Solution Demonstrations showcase digital health software or hardware innovations. Presenters may supplement their demonstration with digital materials (e.g., fact sheets, brochures, or links) to provide additional context. Only one presenter may be listed per submission. Individual Presentation In-person only Individual Presentations are concise, 7-minute presentations followed by audience Q&A. Accepted presentations will be grouped by Forum organizers into thematic sessions based on topic, geography, or technical focus. Only one presenter may be listed per submission. Interactive Workshop In-person & virtual Workshops are 60-minute sessions designed to actively engage participants through interactive, hands-on learning. Submissions should clearly outline participant engagement methods and intended learning outcomes. Up to three presenters may be listed per submission. Pre-Formed Panels In-person & virtual Panels should include three coordinated presentations addressing a shared topic and must not exceed 60 minutes, inclusive of Q&A. Each panel must designate one moderator in addition to the presenters. Each presentation may have one lead presenter and a maximum of three presenters and one moderator per session (5 participants in total). Submissions that include interactive or participatory components should be submitted as Interactive Workshops. Poster Presentation In-person only Posters present findings, lessons learned, or case studies, including both successes and challenges in digital health implementation. Getting to the GDHF Venue Bangkok is serviced by two international airports: Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), the main international gateway, and Don Mueang Airport (DMK), used primarily by low-cost carriers. The venue, Centara Grand at CentralWorld, is located at 999/99 Rama 1 Road, Pathumwan, Bangkok 10330. From Suvarnabhumi, the journey to the venue is approximately 30 km and takes 45–60 minutes by taxi depending on traffic. The Airport Rail Link also connects Suvarnabhumi to Phaya Thai station, where you can transfer to the BTS Skytrain (Chit Lom or Siam stations are a short walk from the venue). From Don Mueang, the journey is approximately 25 km and takes 45–60 minutes by taxi. Metered taxis are available at both airports — use the official metered taxi queue rather than touts approaching you in the terminal. Grab (the regional equivalent of Uber) is widely available in Bangkok and can be used from both airports and throughout the city. The hotel also offers airport transfer services. View larger map → Logistics Information Health Requirements Thailand has no mandatory vaccination requirements for entry, with one exception: travelers arriving from or transiting through a yellow fever endemic country must present proof of yellow fever vaccination. Tap water is not safe to drink in Thailand. Bottled water is widely available throughout Bangkok, including at the venue. We recommend consulting your physician or a travel health clinic before travel for any personal health guidance. Security Information Bangkok is generally safe for visitors, though normal urban precautions apply. Petty crime — pickpocketing and bag snatching — can occur in crowded tourist areas, markets, and on public transport. Scams targeting tourists are also common. Some precautions to keep in mind: Keep your passport, excess cash, and valuables in the hotel safe Always carry a copy of your passport Be alert in busy tourist areas and markets Use metered taxis or Grab rather than unlicensed cabs — a metered taxi should start at 35 THB Avoid displaying expensive jewelry or electronics Do not physically resist any robbery attempt Monitor local media for any developing situations Travel to areas within 50 km of the Thai-Cambodia border is currently restricted following conflict in that region. General Information All major credit cards are accepted in Bangkok. Banks, currency exchange counters, and ATMs are widely available at the airport and in shopping malls throughout the city. Standard bank hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm; branches located inside shopping malls often open daily from 10:30am to 7:30pm. Foreign exchange counters are generally open 7:00am to 8:00pm. The voltage in Thailand is 220–230 volts, 50Hz. Sockets generally accept plug types A, B, and C. Between two and four scholarships are awarded each year, each covering registration, travel, and accommodation for the Global Digital Health Forum in Bangkok, Thailand, from December 2–4, 2026. Recipients are selected from authors of accepted abstracts, based on the motivation statement submitted with their abstract, their geographic location, and the topic of their abstract. Applications were made through the abstract submission process, which is now closed, and recipients are currently being selected. Marc Mitchell Leadership & Innovation Award Named for Dr. Marc Mitchell (1948–2019), founder of D-tree and a pioneer of digital health, the Marc Mitchell Leadership and Innovation Award is presented each year by the Global Digital Health Network. It recognizes an early- or mid-career professional in a low- or middle-income country who is using digital health to widen access to quality care and showing leadership in scaling it. 2026 Marc Mitchell Scholarship Recipient Kondwani Isazaki Msiska Digital Health Engineer · Malawi Kondwani Isazaki Msiska is a digital health engineer from Malawi who has spent the past several years building the national systems behind his country’s shift from paper to digital health. Working with the Digital Health Division of Malawi’s Ministry of Health, he built Kuunika’s Mobile Supervision Toolkit (MST), which replaced paper HIV supervision forms and now runs in every public health facility in the country. He architected Malawi’s national COVID-19 digital certification system with the Presidential COVID-19 Taskforce and Gavi, issuing and verifying over 10 million certificates. And he engineered the emergency care module for the Adult Emergency Triage Centre (AETC) at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, the largest and busiest emergency centre in the country, along with the maternal and newborn modules of the Malawi HealthCare Information System (MaHIS), including protocol-guided antenatal care with danger-sign alerting, now live in more than 400 facilities. A Commonwealth Scholar with an MSc in Digital Health from the University of Bristol and a graduate of the YALI Regional Leadership Center Southern Africa programme in Public Management and Governance at the University of South Africa, Kondwani is known for setting engineering standards and transferring skills to government staff, so the systems he builds outlast the donor funding that started them.
